Attendees: Mike, Jay, John, Doug, Clarisse, Emma
Guest: South HS Principal Susan Elliott
Susan Elliott is Principal of Great Neck South HS, which is ranked as one of the top public high schools in the U.S.
She
came to thank us for the support of our Club for SH Robotics Club and
the annual scholarship we provide. She noted that many students lives
have been changed by that Club and its dedicated teacher (and Club
member John Motchkavitz). At many conferences she attends in her
leadership capacity, they speak of the need to produce students who are
problem solvers, can work in a group and analyze issues and switch in
mid stream when required..all skills demonstrated via the Club. We in
turn enjoy working with the Club members and advisor John.
Great Neck Record printed nice article with picture about the Gold Coast Club support for, and Robotics Club attendance at,
the District Conference.
Gov.
Ravi has applied for a grant for Robotics from Rotary International..if
awarded the money would be useful and the RI backing helpful in our
enhanced efforts to garner corporate sponsors for the Robotics Team.
Good luck and speedy recovery to webmaster Mike next Wed.
as he finally is scheduled for long delayed hernia surgery at North Shore Hospital!!
Congratulations
to Treasurer Betsy and Thanksgiving Project leader Jesse on receiving
Paul Harris awards from Gov. Ravi for demonstrating a high level of
Rotarian spirit.
Please
attend next Friday's bkfst mtg which will be the last to be presided
over by our beloved President Emma, as she hands the gavel over to
President Elect Jay!!
