Jesse reported that at this time, it is too late to find a Haitian candidate for the Gift of Life program, but suggested another club project.   We have the opportunity to participate with Rotary Clubs in Haiti to create a site where 200 Haitian children may be provided with meals, the duration of the program right now to be one year. Jesse will follow up on the specifics for the Club.

Ed has prepared a letter requesting donations for our Annual Thanksgiving Basket Project.  Doug will provide
Ed with Rotary letterhead and all members will receive letter which may be sent to friends and businesses to solicit donations for our drive.  Deadline for donations is November 9th.  We hope to provide at least the number of baskets of last year, which was 218.

After consulting with contacts in Brooklyn regarding the planning of our project to take underprivileged children on a field trip to the Cradle of Aviation Museum, Clarisse reported the logistics turned out to be problematic.  Therefore, the Club decided to seek children from Nassau County to participate in the field trip instead.  Emma will contact her friend who is President of the Westbury School Board to see if she can help or guide us in finding participants.

Mike reported he is busy developing our Club website.

Our speaker for this Friday, October 16th, will be Joseph Sciame, VP of St. Johns University and former National President of the Order of Sons of Italy in America.  OSIA is the largest organization of Italian-Americans in the US (745 clubs)  and since its creation 103 years ago, has developed and carried out a vast number of programs relating to education, scholarship and charity.

Our District Governor Ravi's Homecoming Event will be held on Thursday, December 3rd, at All Saint's Episcopal Church in Great Neck.  Details are forthcoming and our Club is working hard to make the night very special.
